The Alternative Vote

I often wonder if there is some big flaw in democracy.  There’s that famous Churchill quote,

It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried”

Perhaps the problem is not so much with democracy as with the form it takes.  Our Parliamentary system and the American system both have serious flaws which limit the impact of true representative government.  Here is an idea called “The Alternative Vote”, which makes a lot of sense.  It would never be established, though, because the parties that benefit from the “spoiler effect” would have too much to lose.
