Two other films that played at the Festival last September are Armadillo and Submarine. Both are scheduled to run in limited engagements in Toronto over the next month, so this is a heads up for film buffs.
I caught Submarine at the Festival, and raved about it in a previous review. It was one of the best films I saw there. This Ben Stiller supported film is a coming of age comedy. I remember saying that it was made the way Youth In Revolt should have been (but unfortunately wasn’t) made. It has an edge to it which makes it a serious comedy. Highly recommended when it shows up, probably at the Carlton.
The other, Armadillo, is another Danish film, this one a documentary about the mobilization of Danish peace keeping troops in Afghanistan. It is an award winning film and is supposed to be a really stark documentary. I missed it at the festival, so I’m looking forward to catching it at the end of June at the TIFF Lightbox.
