Should Math Be Taught In Schools?

Seeing as it’s the last day of school, this video is good for some fun.  It was posted by PZ Meyers, over at Pharyngula, which is a blog I check out almost every day.

It is clearly meant to be a spoof.  It’s a satire on a real set of interviews by Miss America candidates on the question “Should evolution be taught in schools?”  Please don’t think that this one here was the real thing, but it’s scary because the one on evolution is pretty similar.  Those people who often tell me that I’m overestimating the threat of the religious right should take a look at both of these.

Interestingly, if you take a look at the comment section of the video on Math, there was no shortage of people, most likely fundamentalists, misunderstanding the satirical nature of the video, who were arguing in favor of the anti-math stances that some of the ladies were spouting.

Enjoy and laugh (or cry).
