Hugo Dissent

Posted: August 27, 2011 in Books

Well, it seems that there is a lot of post Hugo chatter on a number of SciFi Blogs criticizing the best novel award going to Connie Willis.  The criticism ranges from Blackout/All Clear not being proper SciFi, to a poor account of history to it just being a badly written novel.

As much as I agree and am pleased to see so much discussion of the issue, it doesn’t change the fact that the fans cast their vote and voiced their collective decision.  I think the voting was done using that Alternative Vote system that I wrote about a few months ago.  Not sure, but it’s the impression I get from some of the comments.
