Starbuck was one of the favorites of the TIFF season.  It is the odd story of a college student who makes some money as a sperm donor, only to find out 20 years later that is the father of over 500 children.  It is a wonderful combination of crazy humour and a moving human story, which I find makes for a compelling movie experience.  The film is French Canadian with English sub-titles, which may account for a little confusion I had in understanding a few parts of the film, specifically the issue of why his children were trying to take him to court.

This is an original and entertaining film.  I would give it a B+.

Starbuck is one of those great films that is only getting limited release.  It is currently playing at the Cumberland Theatre in downtown Toronto.
